TOWNSHIP STREET LIGHTING PROJECT
THE TOWNSHIP HAS UNDERTAKEN A STREET LIGHTING UPGRADE PROJECT. BEGINNING IN THE NEAR FUTURE, THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PROJECT WILL BEGIN SOON. PHASE ONE WILL SEE 47 STREET LIGHTS REPLACED WITH 130 WATT LED LIGHTS. LED LIGHTS WILL NOT ONLY PROVIDE BETTER LIGHTING, BUT SHOULD REDUCE THE COST, KEEPING THE LIGHTING ASSESSMENTS AS LOW AS POSSIBLE TO OUR TAX PAYERS. FUTURE PHASES ARE PLANNED TO EVENTUALLY REPLACE ALL OF THE 161 STREET LIGHTS IN THE TOWNSHIP TO LED LIGHTS. THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL COST TO TAXPAYERS FOR THIS PROJECT.

ASHTABULA COUNTY SOLID WASTE DISTRICT LAUNCHES 12TH DROP OFF RECYCLING SITE IN THE COUNTY IN GENEVA
Ashtabula County Solid Waste Management District announces a 12th recycling drop-off site. Bins are located at the Geneva Township Garage at 256 North Cedar Street. They are off North Avenue at the back entrance to the Township.
Materials to collected are plastic kitchen and laundry containers, aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles and jars, newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard and paperboard. Food and beverage containers should be emptied and rinsed. Cardboard and paperboard should be flattened. Recyclables should be placed in containers loose (not bagged) in the bins and can be commingled (not sorted by type). The containers will be serviced twice a week and will be collected by a compactor truck and delivered to the Ashtabula City Sanitation Department, where the materials will be compacted and transported to Kimble Recycling in Independence, Ohio.
We encourage our citizens to use the bins as designed. No garbage should be put into the containers or left on the ground around them. Recycling the right materials is critical to the success of the drop off program. We ask for your help in not violating the scope of the program and help to make it a success.
