Geneva Township regular meeting, Nov. 12th, 2008.

Trustees returned from Executive Session from the October 29th Special Meeting. Chairman Mills called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Those present were Mr. Mills, Mr. Pruden, Mr. Russell and Fiscal Officer Long. Minutes from the regular October meeting were approved on a motion by Mr. Pruden, seconded by Mr. Russell. Minutes from the Oct. 29th Special Meeting were approved on a motion by Mr. Pruden, seconded by Mr. Russell. Mr. Pruden made the motion, Mr. Russell seconded payment of bills in the amount of $68,985.72 covered by warrant numbers 13033-13119.

Mr. Schupska gave the road dept. report. He indicated that the cleanup at the Geneva Landfill on Oct. 11th went very well. He also indicated the 2007 truck had been fixed as a result of a recall. Work is being performed on both Barnum and Lake Rd. They mowed roadside grass and worked on drainage on Lake Rd. The new salt spreader has been received and has been installed on the truck, we have continued to do cold patching, weather permitting and ordered some additional salt in anticipation of snowy weather. The new hoses and connections and auger are due in on Nov. 13th, 2008. Our one ton truck will go in for repairs tomorrow.

Mr. Pruden pointed out there were 2 street lights at Wheeler Creek and Maple Ave. that were a problem. They presently have been fixed.

Mr. Russell indicated that a PO has been issued to Brobst for some additional tree removal which will be done as time allows. He also indicated the Tuttle Rd. repair will probably be done in 2009. Mr. Russell indicated that we have received approval to complete the Barnum Rd. Project in 2009, also the Issue 1 Wheeler Creek Road Project was approved. The Trustees would like to thank all of the citizens of the Township for passing our 1mil road levy renewal.

There is also a meeting scheduled with the County Engineer’s Office on the Barnum Rd. hill portion.

Mr. Russell covered the driveway piping that has been done on State routes which has not worked out very well. We continue to have problems with the State in that respect so it has been determined that our policy will be to no longer perform work on State routes.

Mr. Russell gave the Fire Dept. report. He indicated that the Fire Station Committee’s next meeting will be on Jan. 6th, 2009 and to date the committee has functioned very well in exploring the possibility of a north Fire Station. He also indicated that the Training Center being erected on Austin Rd. is about 80% complete.

Mr. Cerjan gave the Zoning Dept. report. He indicated that no permits were issued this past month. He has inspected the Iapola property, some cleaning has been done however there is still about 8 unlicensed vehicles. He indicates of a problem locating the property owner to serve him notice about removing those vehicles. Since the property is now in the name of Mr. Iapola’s daughter. The building that is presently being worked on, on the property does not look like it has been inspected. It was reported that at N. Myers near Maple Ave. people are living in a camper, Mr. Cerjan will inspect that. The house on Addison and Rt. 20, 4551 N. Ridge E. has been sold to Anthony Delia the 2nd.

Fiscal Officer Long gave an update on the outdoor theatre progress. He also indicated that the Audit has been completed, however no report has been received as of yet. It was also indicated that a prospective buyer of the old North Center Tavern would like to tear it down and build a restaurant in the area, he has inquired about sewers, some dialog is presently going on with the City of Geneva in that respect.

The Landfill referendum was defeated, the Landfill will proceed with their expansion plans.

Rezoning for the Golf Clinic property from recreational to residential was approved by the Zoning Board and the Township Trustees.

Mr. Pruden reported on the County Trustees Meeting as well as the fact that the Board of Elections during this past election have put up temporary handicap signs. This is the first time that has been done although the law has been in effect for some time.

The Geneva Landfill Advisory Committee has met, it presently has 17 members including 2 people from the EPA who attended. Also attending was Ray Sapario, the County Health Dept. head. The County has asked for an extension on the new waterline completion on Maple Ave. to Route 534 and it has been approved by the State.

Mr. Russell reported that NAD had received their new Ambulance Squad and it is working extremely well.

On a motion by Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. Pruden the Trustees returned to Executive Session at 8:55 p.m.
