Geneva Township regular meeting, Oct. 25, 2006. Mr. Mills called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Those present were Mr. Mills, Mr. Pruden, Mr. Russell and Mr. Long. On a motion by Mr. Pruden, second by Mr. Russell reading of the minutes was dispensed and approved as presented. Brent Horvath from Geneva Schools made a presentation about the Issue 7, ˝ mil levy. Mr. Pruden made the motion, seconded by Mr. Mills, Mr. Russell obstained. To support school Issue #7, Mr. Mills – yes, Mr. Pruden – yes. Mr. Pruden made the motion, Mr. Mills seconded payment of bills in the amount of $19,914.49 covered by warrant number 11370-11400. It was noted that Mr. Tim Lenhart had recently retired from the Fire Dept., Mr. Randy Golf has been hired as a full time fire fighter to replace him. Road Dept. report was given by Mr. Russell and Mr. Mills. Rocky Road Paving will fix Maple Ave. and Tuttle Rd. on Thursday, Oct. 26th, 2006. The Township will provide traffic control. Tuttle Rd. will be shut down during the afternoon while repairs are made. Mr. Pruden pointed out that the County will inspect the foundation for the new salt bin on Oct. 26th, 2006. Mr. Pruden made the motion, Mr. Russell seconded to retain Dennis Crawford as a part time employee beyond the Sept. 30th date, unanimously approved. Mr. Mills reported that repairs to the 97 truck bed are estimated between $600 and $1000. We will proceed with those repairs. There was a tree on Maple Ave., the south side of the road, in the road right of way that will be taken down for an estimated $500. This was approved on a motion by Mr. Russell, and second by Mr. Mills. The property owner will remove the wood. Mr. Russell reported that the Barnum Rd. Issue 1 application has been submitted. The Addison Road Project has been extended until June 30th, 2007 and chip and seal has been completed for the year 2006. Mr. Cerjan gave the Zoning Dept. report. He indicated 2 permits had been issued, one for a new house on Padanarum Rd. and the other for a foundation for Nitrogen tank on Myers Rd. He had inspected the property on Maple Ave., some of the debris had been cleaned up, there are still 3 or 4 vehicles on the property. He will be attending a meeting on Monday in respect to subdivision procedures. Mr. Pruden made the motion, Mr. Russell unanimously approved the subscription to receive Zoning Report Updates, cost at $147.00. It was reported that the Zoning Board of Appeals had denied the signed variance for Mr. Schultz. It was also agreed there was some language issues in the present Zoning Manual that needs revising. It was recommended that the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Zoning Board and Mr. Cerjan meet to submit for clarification those areas in question. Mr. Pruden reported on the Candidates Night held at the County Association Meeting on Oct. 19th. He also reported there’s a hearing on Oct. 26th in respect to the mercury level being discharged by the Geneva City Waste Water, it is a public hearing to be held at Geneva on the Lake. Mr. Russell reported the NAD Board is talking to Trumbull Township in respect to admitting them as a part of NAD. Trumbull Township Trustees voted to join NAD, NAD will consider it at the next meeting. Through Sept. 2006 1543 calls were made by NAD. There were 230 in Austinburg, 798 in Geneva City, 282 in Geneva Township, 29 at Geneva on the Lake,144 in Harpersfield and 45 in Trumbull. The number of calls is up approximately 100 calls from the same period of time in 2005. Mr. Russell gave a report on the GPS System to signal traffic lights off, on coming ambulance and fire trucks. He indicated that presently under consideration are 10 units to be installed as well as a number of transmitters to be installed in the ambulance and fire trucks. Estimated cost is approximately $60,000. On Nov. 1st in the Commissioner’s Conference room in Jefferson, there will be 2 seminars on Meth Labs, one at 9 am and one at 1 pm. Mr. Long reported all employee physicals have been completed, all employees have been cleared for work and all drug tests were negative. A member of the audience indicated that the curve on Padanarum Rd. is a problem, Trustees indicated we had fixed it per the County’s instructions and the County indicates it is not a candidate for a guard rail. Mr. Russell reported water line project on Padanarum Rd. at 14 no’s and 9 yes’s. Maple Ave. waterline both east and west of Austin Rd. needs small sections for that to be completed. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
