Geneva Township regular meeting, Oct. 10th, 2007.

Trustees returned from Executive Session from the meeting of Sept. 12th.

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mills at 7:30 p.m. Those present were Mr. Mills, Mr. Pruden, Mr. Russell and Mr. Long. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as presented on a motion by Mr. Pruden, seconded by Mr. Russell. Bills in the amount of $40,092.54 covered by warrant numbers 12144-12205 were approved on a motion by Mr. Pruden and a second by Mr. Russell.

The Fire Dept was involved in fighting the train derailment fire in Painesville. As a result the Fire Chief was not present and no report was given.

Mr. Russell gave the Zoning report. He indicated that we had issued 5 zoning permits, 3 for a pole barn, one for a tenant’s garage and one for a storage facility. The trailer on S. Broadway is being dismantled and will be removed after Mr. Cerjan contacts the owner.

A member of the audience indicated they live on Padanarum Rd. 3 doors south of the roofing company that is presently pouring concrete paths. The individual is concerned about drainage, we will pass that on to Mr. Cerjan who will check these drainage problems. Also due to robberies, a number of lights have been installed and the neighbor indicates the light shines into his yard, he wondered if some type of shade could not be put over it to reduce the amount of light coming into his yard, that will also be checked by Mr. Cerjan.

Mr. Schupska gave the road dept. report. He indicated that they have been ditching, continuing roadside mowing, they have hauled dirt from the Lodge site and the 1999 truck has been repaired. We have completed the repairs on Tuttle Rd., removed some debris from Barnum Rd. and continued ditching and driveway pipe on Lake Rd. Both the 1997 and 1999 trucks needed new windshields, which have been completed. Speed limit signs on New London Rd. have been erected as well as on W. Maple. Mr. Pruden pointed out that trucks hauling dirt from an access road on Austin Rd. to the overpass have stopped. This however maybe temporary since some additional dirt will be needed.

Mr. Russell reported the project with ODNR and Geneva on the Lake and Geneva Township is progressing slowly. Engineering is presently being done and that is the repaving of Lake Rd. The Wheeler Creek Issue 1 application has been forwarded to the County. It was indicated that we should send a letter to the County requesting a speed study on Addison Rd. since the paving has been completed. Also Mr. Russell talked to someone from ODOT who indicated that North Ave. should be reopened by mid November.

Mr. Long gave the Fiscal Officer’s report. He introduced Resolution 2007-12, a resolution establishing a sick leave donation program. Mr. Pruden made the motion, Mr. Mills seconded. Roll call Mills – yes, Pruden – yes, Russell – yes. Mr. Long also gave a report on the Route 534 Corridor study which is presently in the hands of potential bidders. Also on Senate Bill 117, resolution language is still not available, as soon as it is, resolution will be prepared.

Under old business, it was pointed out that the CEDA meeting with Geneva on the Lake will be held at Geneva on the Lake at 7 p.m. on Oct. 31st, 2007 and this is a joint meeting of the 2 entities.

A street light on Route 20 that was reported being out has been repaired. Also the Fall Cleanup has been moved from Oct. 13th to Oct. 20th from 8 to 12. Mr. Pruden made the motion, Mr. Russell seconded moving the cleanup date.

Mr. Long reported that trees had been planted at Maplewood Cemetery. The Cemetery is open and is presently available for burials.

Mr. Pruden indicated if anyone was going to the Perry Plant on 10/18/07 for the Official’s Tour and Visit. He also indicated Trick or Treat in conjunction with Geneva City and Harpersfield will be held on Oct. 28th, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Mr. Russell reported he had been talking with Larry Meeny and the County Waterline should be completed and the residents should be able to tap in in the next couple of weeks. He also indicated that the Opticon System is working with a few glitches and that the NAD calls are down as compared to last year at this time. On a motion by Mr. Pruden, seconded by Mr. Russell unanimously approved return to Executive Session at 8:05 p.m.
