Geneva Township regular meeting, Oct. 8th, 2008.

Trustees returned from Executive Session at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mills at 7:31 p.m. Those present were Mr. Mills, Mr. Pruden, Mr. Russell and Fiscal Officer Long. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved on a motion by Mr. Pruden, a second by Mr. Russell. Bills in the amount of $76,535.18 covered by warrant numbers 12980-13032 were approved on a motion by Mr.Russel, seconded by Mr. Pruden.

Mr. Cerjan gave the Zoning Dept. report. He indicated he had issued a permit at 4536 Lake Rd. East for a new garage. He also investigated individuals selling tires at the corner of Myers and Addison Rd. The Zoning Commission Meeting was held in respect to the rezoning of the Golf Clinic on Myers Rd. Rich Arndt was appointed the new Chairman of the Zoning Board. There will be a public meeting held on Wednesday, the 29th of October at 7 p.m. in respect to the rezoning of the Golf Clinic on Myers Rd. A special Trustee’s meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29th to vote on the Issue.

Mr. Pruden pointed out that it is illegal to burn between 6 am and 6 pm in October and November, also that fire has to be further than 1000 feet from any structure.                                                                                      

Mr. Schupska gave the road dept. report. He indicated that roadside grass is being cut as well as work continuing on the Barnum Rd. Project. They have also been replacing some ditch pipe on Austin Rd. and New London Rd. The piping on Lake Rd. is complete. There will be some additional landscaping work to be done, probably in the Spring. The aprons that were cut to provide access for the drainage job will be paved by Rocky Road Paving. Rocky Road will also provide an estimate for the Tuttle Rd. patching that will be necessary. All of the branches that were at Addison Rd. and Rt. 20 have been picked up and removed. Road Dept. is also waiting for a price on replacement of a spreader for one of our trucks. It should be received in the very near future.

Mr. Russell reported that the final round of Issue 1 Projects, ours being the Wheeler Creek south end project should be completed in the very near future. Mr. Russell also indicated he has sent a letter for an extension on the paving of Barnum Rd. until next year, since the prep work has taken longer than anticipated and it was a recommendation of the County Engineer that those areas should settle over the winter before paving was done. Also a quote will be forthcoming for the removal of a number of trees within the Township. The price of salt has more then doubled and it is anticipated that it will continue to be going up into next year.

The procedures for taking care of our roads during the winter will be modified accordingly. A breakdown of chip and seal cost for 2007 and 2008 was reviewed by the Board.

The Fire Station Committee had their first meeting on Sept. 30th, 2008. They have set a meeting date of the 1st Tuesday of each month. Those who participated were happy with the results of the meeting. It was also indicated that the Training Center on Austin Rd. is moving along and plans are to complete that by the end of the year.

Mr. Pruden pointed out that the Township Cleanup in conjunction with Waste Management will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11th.

Mr. Long reported that the 2006-2207 audit is complete. There is one issue that still has to be resolved and the State Auditors will get back to the Township on that matter. Mr. Long also explained the Legislation on the House Bill 458, which will be probably be taken up after the election on Nov. 4th.

Mr. Russell reported that NAD had received a new ambulance. He indicated that year to date, 1,754 called have been received, 267 which were in the Township. That total is 254 calls more than last year at this time. He also indicated that they have been conducting a study to determine what the Great Project will add in respect to calls for NAD.

The Water Committee has received bids for the Maple Ave. Water Project. This will connect Maple and Austin Roads, hopefully it will be completed this year.

Mr. Pruden pointed out that ODNR had the wrong PO Box in respect to information that was forwarded to him and the other Trustees in respect to a meeting earlier in the month. Mr. Long has forwarded a letter to ODNR informing them of the problem. Mr. Pruden reported that on Sept. 18th Township Meeting, the State Auditors made a presentation in the respect to hospital medical reimbursement.

The County Township Association Candidates Night will be on Oct. 16th. The Anuual Landfill Tour was held on Saturday, Oct. 6th, 2008. The Landfill had a pig roast as well as a great deal of additional food. An estimated 150 people attended.

 The Cemetery Board met and had a discussion in respect to the new building and building materials. New prices will be forthcoming. New trees have been planted at Evergreen and Maplewood, this completes the tree project for 2008.

One of  the residents of Lake Rd. thanked the Trustees for completion of the drainage project.

Mr. Russell then made a motion to return to Executive Session. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
