Geneva Township regular meeting, Jan. 13th, 2010. The Trustees returned from Executive Session at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mills at 7:31 p.m. Minutes from the regular meeting, Dec. 9th, 2009 and the Organizational Meeting on Dec. 26th, 2009 were approved on a motion by Mr. Pruden, seconded by Mr. Russell. Bills in the amount of $64,394.51 covered by warrant numbers 13921-13993 were approved on a motion by Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. Pruden. A discussion took place in respect to the Waste Management re-zoning. It was indicated we had received a final copy of the Host Agreement delivered to us Jan. 13th, 2010. Also the language for the removal of the Covenant has been revised per Waste Management Attorneys. It will now go to Abe Cantor, the Township Attorney and it should be approved. Mr. Russell made a motion to forward a letter to the County Commissioners vacating the road requested by Waste Management, however we would point out safety concerns to the Commissioners. The motion was seconded by Mr. Pruden and unanimously approved. Mr. Cerjan gave the Zoning report. He indicated that he had investigated the question on Rt. 20 West in respect to the building being used as an Auto Repair Shop. It appears that everything is proper. A question on maps, Mr. Cerjan had checked with the County Engineer’s Office. They indicated they no longer do that. Trustees will contact Smolen Engineering to see if new maps can be obtained with the changes to Zoning as a result of the Waste Management Project. A question in respect to the Park Board came up and their representatives. It was indicated that Don Pruden is the present representative. His term is up in May, He has not decided if he will remain on the Board. It was indicated to Mr. Pruden that he should keep us abreast of that situation so that we would be sure to get a Township resident appointed. Mr. Mills indicated that he had a discussion with City Manager Pearson in respect to participating in a Storm Water Study. That is in the preliminary stages and the Township would be interested in being aware of what the study reveals. Mr. Schupska gave the Road Dept. report. He indicated they have been doing a great deal of snowplowing during the storm in the last 10 to 15 days. We had more salt delivered as well as sand. We have received approximately 400 tons of salt to date. There have been several deer that needed to be removed, also a new motor for a spreader on the truck has been repaired. Mr. Pruden pointed out that the Road Crew had put on the Annual Christmas Party on Dec. 24th, 2009. They have done it for many years and a total of 42 people attended it this year. Mr. Pruden pointed out it is a fine time and the Road Crew has been doing this many many years. Mr. Russell reported that the County Engineer and the County have agreed to widen the curve on Barnum Rd. and the base work will be done by the Township. The County will pave the road. As indicated, it looked very good on paper, but in reality it’s not a very good situation. It will probably be done in the summer of 2010. Mr. Russell indicated he will begin working on the Issue 1 Project to pave the North end of Wheeler Creek Rd. and the Township portion of North Ave., which should complete the paving of all the roads in Geneva Township. Mr. Russell gave the Fire Dept. report. He indicated he had been talking with the Cemetery in respect to the Cemetery Building on Maple Ave. as a Fire Station. Talk is also continuing about a Fire District. Resolution 2010-01, The Annual Appropriations Resolution was passed on a motion by Mr. Mills, seconded by Mr. Pruden. Roll call revealed: Mills – yes, Pruden – yes, Russell – yes. The Budget for 2010 was approved on a motion by Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. Mills. Roll call: Mills – yes, Pruden – yes, Russell - yes. Mr. Russell thanked all the Road Crew, Trustees and Fiscal Officer for the job well done in keeping our financial situation as good as it is. Mr. Pruden indicated that the Lawsuit was recently concluded over Waste Management. It cost the Township $1,729.12, which was approximately 15% of the Attorney’s cost. The rest was paid by Otarma, our Insurance Company. He also indicated Waste Management had recently received an additional award. On Dec. 15th, Saybrook Township Trustees met with the County Commissioners and Ray Saparito from the Health Dept. Commissioners agreed that everything was okay with Waste Management and their operation and at the present there are no Health issues to be identified. A number of members attended the Jan. 12th, 2010 534 Corridor Study Meeting, which began with a bus trip up and down the Corridor and individual meetings during the day in respect to the area and what requirements might be. Most people are looking forward to the results of that meeting. Mr. Russell indicated that the calls were down as far as Northwest Ambulance was concerned so far this year. There being no further business, the Trustees returned to Executive Session on a motion by Mr. Mills, second by Mr. Russell at 8:40 p.m.
